LAST WEEK
O.C. 'Idol' contestant barely makes cut
Lisa Tucker received second fewest votes.

That was close ... too close.
Anaheim's Lisa Tucker earned the second fewest votes this week on "American Idol" and was nearly eliminated in the first week of the finals.
As last night's show drew to a close it came down to Tucker and Melissa McGhee, who the night before had botched the lyrics to Stevie Wonder's "Lately."
Host Ryan Seacrest annouced the results in his usual tantalzing fashion, "Lisa, you ... are ... safe."
Tucker and McGhee were joined in the botton three by hearthrob Ace Young. Young's inclusion in the group prompted a string of "boos" from the studio audience at which point Seacrest reminded those watching at home of the importance of voting for their favorites even if their fate seems secured.
How long Tucker stays in the competition remains in the hands of the voting audience. While previous winners Ruben Studdard and Fatashia Barrino did have their moments in the bottom three, last year's winner, Carrie Underwood, made it all the way through unscathed.
Tucker certainly looked to be "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" Tuesday night.
"For me, this was one of the best performance of the night," said Cowell. "For the first time I saw someone absolutely take control of this stage. You didn't feel swallowed up by it. You know there are a lot of good singers in this country. But then you've got to have something extra -- that 'It Factor.' You have that. It was great. I loved it."
Tucker and the other remaining 11 contestants will next perform at 8 p.m. Tuesday on Fox. The theme for next week's show has not yet been annouced.
